Overview:
The Yard Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a scrap metal recycling yard. Your main role will be to manage and supervise staff to ensure that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with necessary regulations. You will also be responsible for enforcing the company's policies and procedures, as well as developing and implementing new policies and procedures, as necessary.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage and supervise a team of yard workers, including allocating work, providing training and guidance, and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed.
- Monitor all activities within the yard, including the receipt and processing of scrap materials, and ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities within the yard, including incoming and outgoing scrap materials, inventory levels, and any incidents or accidents that occur.
- Develop and implement new policies and procedures as necessary to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the yard.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures for employees and visitors to the yard.
- Keep current with industry trends and market conditions to stay competitive.
- Manage the inventory of scrap material, including organizing, categorizing, and preparing for sale
- Ensure that all equipment is properly used, maintained, and serviced, and that all necessary repairs are carried out promptly.
- Liaise with senior management and other stakeholders to discuss operational plans and strategise on effective ways to improve the business.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience working in a similar role within the scrap metal recycling industry.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience in equipment maintenance preferred but not necessary.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations relating to the operation of a scrap yard.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve their goals.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A degree or diploma in a relevant field, such as business management or similar, is preferred.

Remuneration
- Base Salary $85,000 per annum plus super or Negotiable based on experience

**Salary**: From $85,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

- Molendinar, QLD 4214: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
