The Shared Service Provider
The Shared Service Provider (SSP) is part of the Victorian Government's commitment to a whole of government approach to the provision of shared corporate services. SSP provides library, facilities, accommodation, security, projects and car pool services to Victorian Government departments and selected agencies.
About the role
The role supports the service delivery areas of SSP through work on service costing, budgeting, board reporting, monitoring cash balances, and ensuring timely invoice payments and receipts. It also manages constructive and effective working relationships with client departments and agencies, external vendors, VAGO, DTF's Budget and Finance division and Financial Assets and Liabilities group, and DGS Corporate Finance groups.
Key Accountabilities
- Review and analyse data provided by the real estate outsourced provider, conducting quality checks, initiating investigations and resolving queries in a timely manner.
- Proactively investigate anomalies or accounting issues which may impact the accuracy of the department's reporting, working with all relevant stakeholders and keeping senior SSP Finance staff advised.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations, monthly and annual account working papers, financial reports, briefings and other ad hoc reports and correspondence.
- Develop strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and ensure a high level of client service. Constructively work to resolve issues or escalate where required.
- Undertake various projects that develop and review policies, professional standards and operating practices that enhance accounting controls, trust governance, service delivery, budget effectiveness or improved client outcomes.
- Contribute to the provision of information and written reports for external and internal stakeholders, including DTF Corporate Finance and VAGO, in accordance with standards and guidelines, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Comply with the Financial Management Act 1994 and other requirements of the trust within which SSP operates, other relevant legislation, regulations and government directives, policies and guidelines.

About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Extensive experience and understanding of financial management and reporting requirements under the Accounting Standards, as well as government policies and legislation.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex or time-consuming deliverables using judgement to address competing priorities and develop a work plan.
- Well-developed conceptual and analytical abilities and ability to prepare and present financial data which assists decision making.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and to constructively support the delivery of team and organisation-wide outputs.
- Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and relationship management skills across internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Mandatory requirements
- A tertiary qualification accounting as well as membership of a recognised professional accounting body (CPA or CA)
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel
