As our success and growth continues across Australia, an opportunity has arisen for a motivated Fauna Spotter Catcher to join our Queensland Team.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to step into a hands-on role within the ecology division of our operations in Mackay or Brisbane and more broadly Queensland. **Applicants will also be considered from Mackay, Brisbane, or Newcastle.**
**The Role**
The role will involve using your technical skills and knowledge on a wide variety of projects for both private sector and government clients including:
- Undertake "spotter catcher" work on numerous sites across QLD;
- Undertake practical hands-on environmental activities across several development and environmental improvement projects;
- Support Kleinfelder's ecological assessment and restoration team.
- Report to the Senior Ecologist as a member of the broader ecology team in Queensland;
- Provide high quality, technical field reports to clients within both the private sector and all levels of government;
- Undertake site work competently and safely complying with relevant WH&S requirements including internal Kleinfelder and external client procedures.
**About you**
We are seeking talented and curious scientists who want to advance their career with a global environmental consultancy. Ideally you will bring:
- Recognised tertiary qualifications in environmental science (ecology), natural resource management or a related discipline;
- 1 -5 years' experience undertaking "spotter catcher" work - ideally with experience in environmental consulting;
- Snake handling certificate or fauna handling accreditation,
- White Card (Construction Induction)
- 4WD certificate
- Practical knowledge of work health and safety policies and procedures, risk management practice and principles;
- Competent and confident in handling and relocating fauna
- Ability to travel and spend up to two weeks away for fieldwork working 2/1 rosters;
- Willingness to work flexible hours (especially during field surveys);
- Excellent communication and computer literacy skills;
- An ability to work effectively on multiple projects at a time and the ability to meet deadlines;
- Physical fitness, self-motivation, and ability to function in a team environment;
- Alignment with Kleinfelder's company values;
- A strong work ethic

- Standard 11 generic induction;
- QLD coal board medical;
- ISI gas induction;
- Lyssavirus and Q Fever vaccinations;
- Snake handling experience
- Land management experience - weed/pest control, site restoration and rehabilitation.
