**About us**:
Anglicare Tasmania is a not-for-profit organisation providing a wide range of services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to ageing and disability, health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.

**About the role**:
The Support Worker is responsible for providing after hour telephone assessments of people seeking emergency accommodation. This includes making appropriate referrals to shelters, Housing Connect Support and other relevant services. The service operates outside normal business hours including public holidays.

**What we are looking for in an applicant**:

- knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues relating to homelessness such as: poverty, unemployment, health, family violence, substance use and other social factors which impact on vulnerable or at risk people;
- Up-to-date knowledge of the private rental market, Residential Tenancy Act and local housing sector.
- High level initiative, problem solving and resilience skills including the ability to maintain a positive outlook, see the ‘bigger picture’, identify opportunities and implement solutions.
- Well-developed writing skills including the ability to maintain accurate and professional case-notes.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding confidentiality and clients.
- Proven time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage own work flows in conjunction with the Area Coordinator.
- Computer skills, in particular the ability to operate word processing and database management software packages.
- Qualifications relevant to the position or extensive experience and lesser qualifications deemed equivalent.

**Successful applicants must be willing to**:

- present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
- provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:

- provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
