**About the role**

We are looking for a **Principal Advisor - Closure Strategy and Partnerships** to challenge our approach to closure, reducing liabilities and improving social, economic and environmental outcomes. This centres on embedding closure in our operational decision making from closure in design to operations and then through closure studies and closure readiness activities.

Reporting to the Rio Tinto Closure - Manager Closure Strategy and Partnerships, within the global Closure Strategy and Optimisation team, you will:

- Partner with Operating Assets to plan and facilitate the development of Asset Closure Strategies
- Provide guidance, document, and maintain Asset Closure Strategy processes and systems
- Engage with Studies, Projects and Assets to embed leading practice design, life of mine planning and operational processes to manage closure related risks and liabilities
- Contribute to development and/or implementation of regulatory engagement frameworks, commercial and repurposing opportunities, innovation and technology development
- Participate in external networks to maintain currency and influence development of industry positioning for closure

**What you’ll bring**

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

- Proven stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence effectively and partner to drive change
- A keen interest in closure, rehabilitation, and project management
- Ability to quickly build robust business-focused relationships, establish credibility and influence internal and external stakeholders to drive consensus and collaboration.
- Expert at leveraging existing business practices, and designing new tools and systems to support continuous improvement without creating unnecessary additional work for our assets
- Strong team skills and ability to travel.
- Ability to work independently and think “outside the box”
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, and prioritize

It will also be beneficial if you have:

- Experience liaising with different levels of an organization
- Business improvement experience
- Experience working in a mining, industrial or construction environment
- English and French language skills
