**About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission**

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent

agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and

services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in

Australia and a non-corporate entity under the _Public Governance, Performance and _
- Accountability Act 2013_.

**The NDIS Commission’s core legislative functions are to**:
uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of, people with

disability receiving supports or services, including those received under the National

Disability Insurance Scheme;
develop a nationally consistent approach to managing quality and safeguards for

people with disability receiving supports or services, including those received under

the National Disability Insurance Scheme;
promote the provision of advice, information, education and training to NDIS

providers and people with disability;
secure compliance with relevant legislation through effective compliance and

enforcement arrangements, including through the monitoring and investigation

functions conferred on the Commissioner by legislation;
promote continuous improvement amongst NDIS providers and the delivery of

progressively higher standards of supports and services to people with disability;
develop and oversee the broad policy design for a nationally consistent framework

relating to the screening of workers involved in the provision of supports and services

to people with disability;
provide advice or recommendations to the National Disability Insurance Agency

(NDIA) and its Board in relation to the performance of the Agency’s functions;
engage in, promote and coordinate the sharing of information to achieve the objects

of the relevant legislation; and

provide NDIS market oversight, including:
i. by monitoring changes in the NDIS market which may indicate emerging risk; and

ii. by monitoring and mitigating the risks of unplanned service withdrawal.

**About the Corporate Division**

The Corporate Division is responsible for delivering all corporate service activities across

the Commission, and for advising on and supporting the strategic direction of the

Commission. The Corporate Division consists of the following functions:

**People Services team**

The People Services team partners with and provides specialist advice to business areas

across the NDIS Commission to support delivery of high quality services.

The People Services team is responsible for delivering HR services for the NDIS

Commission, including:
recruitment;
talent and performance management processes and advice;
workforce data and analytics;
work health and safety and secretariat for the Health and Safety Committee;
injury management;
Code of Conduct matters;
advice relating to industrial relations and entitlements; and

advising and assisting with change management, including from a systems

perspective.

**Key duties of the role**

The Assistant Director WHS will report to the Director, People Services and is responsible

for:
1. leading and developing the WHS team and partnering with business areas to provide

high quality WHS services and advices to the NDIS Commission;
2. leading, influencing and driving work health as safety (WHS) strategy and initiatives

and the ability to empower stakeholders to engage with WHS initiatives to facilitate a

positive proactive culture;
3. taking responsibility for the achievements of own and team outcomes, monitor

progress and follow through to deliver quality outcomes;
4. recommending strategic directions for area of responsibility and consider wider

agency implications when making decisions;
5. effectively managing competing priorities and strategic directions when achieving

team planning and project outcomes in line with
