The Position

This Break Away practitioner will work in a multi-disciplinary team. This exciting opportunity will allow for the program to practically support individuals and engage in safe and pro-social activities giving them a break away. The practitioner must understand how to work with children, young people and caregivers who have experienced trauma or challenges through life and be motivated to assist them to reach their full potential.

About Us

Anglicare Victoria (AV) offers flexible and tailored support services as part of the Family Preservation & Reconciliation (FPR) Response, a Department of Families, Fairness & Housing (DFFH) state-wide initiative. FPR supports children and their families in creating a positive and safe environment within the family home, focusing on families remaining together and where children in care can return to reside with their family. The services within the FPR use various approaches including early intervention and assistance strategies, targeted and specialist support and continuing care pathways. AV provides FPR through short-term intensive support services and long-term transitional support services, based on the needs of the children and their families.

**To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need**:
Required

A relevant tertiary qualification in youth work, and/or related behavioural, community of social sciences.

Or for less formal qualifications, experience in the relevant service stream with specialized skills sufficient to perform at this level.

Qualifications obtained overseas are required to be assessed by the identified industry professional entities for industry relevance and alignment to the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Role Specific

Deliver a range of supports to a child/young person to provide them opportunities to have a positive memory experience, recreational respites and develop a community connection.

Undertake direct client work, engage the child/young person’s families, care team and stakeholders to assist and empower care givers, and overcome challenges impacting on the child’s safety and well-being.

Use a range of creative approaches to engage with children, young people and care givers in a respectful way that supports their participation in a break away intervention.

Facilitation of recreational, pro-social indoor and outdoor activities that align with the child/young person’s care plan.

Provide care givers with an appropriate service response in line with Best Interest Assessment principals.

In partnership with key stakeholders, work toward empowering our children/young people to independently plan for activities to support their interests and goals.
