The position is located collaboratively within a dynamic and multidisciplinary team of
strategic planners and heritage experts. The position provides advocacy, support, and
technical guidance across a range of internal and external stakeholders, contributing to
the team’s heritage advisory services that promote excellence in cultural and built heritage
outcomes across the City.

The role supports the work of the built heritage team during a period of increased
investment in capital works. The role is focused on heritage assessments and advisory
services for internal stakeholders but requires the flexibility to attend to other heritage
services during periods of peak development activity. It includes assisting with heritage
programs including committees, grant programs, and museum advisory services. The role
may require the provision of authoritative advice on heritage matters to management.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- **Specialist Heritage Advice**: Contributes to the provision of high-quality independent

heritage advice within the framework of Council’s operational, strategic and
community plans. This includes advice on grant-funded projects and on the

maintenance of Council’s assets with heritage value, to achieve high quality built and
and minor works requests if necessary to resource periods of peak development
activity.
- **Heritage Strategy**: Ongoing action and implementation of the key themes of

Council’s Heritage Strategy 2021-2025, including the promotion and enhancement of
heritage conservation in the Blue Mountains through community projects and liaison,
networking, events, and educative opportunities.
- **Community heritage programs**:Works within the heritage team delivering a range

of heritage services to support community programs such as Council’s Heritage
Advisory Committee, Museum Advisory Service, and Local Heritage Assistance Fund,
across a broad range of external stakeholder groups and residents.***
- **Strategic documents and asset databases**:Contribute to the ongoing management

of Council’s assets of heritage value by coordinating heritage management
documents such as conservation management plans and updating and maintaining
databases.
- **Historical and related content**: Contribute when required to the preparation of

historic content for interpretive signage, heritage trails, media releases and
communications.***
- **Managing relationships**:The role works within a team of heritage experts that

provide a wide-ranging service across the organisation and the City. The role will work
closely with a variety of internal teams including other specialists and project
managers, as well as externally with the community, advisory groups, and historical
societies.
