**The Role**
The Logistics Services Administration section is a small team of three APS personnel positioned in the Directorate of Warehousing & Distribution Services (DWDS) within the Joint Logistics Command, Logistics Operations Branch (LOB).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Accountable for contract administration of the LOB managed contracts including the review and submission of contract change proposals and amendments. This will require consultation with both the Commonwealth Contract Managers and Industry Partners.
- Assist in developing and/or updating key contract documentation including Contract Management Plans for LOB contracts to ensure that the documentation aligns with the LOB Contract Management Framework.
- Seek, interpret and provide advice, direction and assistance on legal principles, legislative and mandatory policy compliance obligations and critical commercial risk and performance requirements related to procurement and contract management.
- Engage, negotiate and persuade the Industry Partners and stakeholders on complex contract management issues, assisting the Contract Manager to identify alternative courses of action to ensure resolution.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with supervisors and other key stakeholders including consultants and Industry Partner personnel.
- Participate in the development of tender documentation for contract extensions and/or new contracts for LOB contracts.
You will need to demonstrate flexibility and agility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of the Defence environment and to realign resourcing requirements to meet new demands when necessary.
The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace.
It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.
**About our Team**
Logistics Operations Branch (LOB) is an integrated team of military, civilians (APS) and contractors who contribute to the JLC mission of enabling Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations and readiness through adaptive, effective and efficient military logistics.
LOB provides Defence-led warehousing, distribution, clothing, retail stores, maintenance and support services via national and international logistics services contracts delivered by Industry Partners in support of ADF operations and activities.
While the number of logistics services contracts can vary according to what our Defence customers’ need, typically LOB manages around 13 contracts supporting Defence on a national and international basis. Our workforce is located in all states and territories across Australia, as well as internationally. The Directorate of Warehousing & Distribution Services supports LOB in achieving the above.
The successful applicant will provide support to the current warehousing & distribution, clothing, maintenance and retail stores contract management teams and also provide support to the development of new contracts and/or extension of existing LOB contracts.
This is a role in which you will have a high level of stakeholder engagement both within and external to LOB. You will accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex contract management tasks within an integrated workforce.
You will need to work independently whilst contributing as an effective team member. You will also need to have sound interpersonal, communication, negotiation and liaison skills and understand the needs of our stakeholders to produce outcomes and results in support of contractual obligations.

- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain productive relationships with others both across the branch and externally.
- Strong written communication skills for range of documentation types for stakeholders, both within and external to Defence.
- Possess a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Policies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage allocated resources, set work area priorities, manage workflows, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
- An ability to work constructively under limited direction.
- Outcome-focused mindset with an ability to get practical results.
- Be a team player and be adaptable, supportive and considerate with all staff.
