**About the role**

We are looking for an **Occupational Hygiene Advisor** to join our Paraburdoo Region HSE Health and Hygiene team in a diverse mining environment. Being a part of the operational delivery of occupational hygiene services will put you at the forefront of mining technology with the once in a lifetime opportunity to work with a well-established HSEC Team, while champion occupational hygiene and to lead exposure reduction projects.

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to make a positive impact on the health profile of our workforce. Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Safety, Paraburdoo Region Operations, you will be:

- Educating, communicating and engaging with Rio Tinto HSEC, site leaders and operational personnel
- Analysing hygiene data and ensuring compliance with the Rio Tinto Health standards, HSEC Framework and legislative requirements.
- Investigating situations of occupational over-exposure and / or incidence of adverse health effects
- Identifying and lead process improvements to standardise and simplify hygiene processes
- Developing annual risk based monitoring plans
- Recommending key control methods (considering the hierarchy of control) for occupational hygiene risk reduction and evaluate control effectiveness
- Undertaking personal exposure monitoring, water monitoring and health surveillance as required
- Leading annual and legislative reporting

**What you’ll bring**
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
- Tertiary qualified in a relevant occupational hygiene, allied health or safety discipline with experience in a similar role
- Experience with incident investigations and risk assessment techniques
- Membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH)
- Strong communication, engagement and influencing skills
- Analytical capability
- Current Surface Ventilation Officer and Noise Officer Certification Underground mining experience will be highly regarded
