**Key Responsibilities**:
??? Aid in planning for Operations and liaising with appropriate departments to ensure optimal progress.
??? Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of laboratory data into our analytics platform.
??? Assembly, basic setup, acceptance tests and training where needed, ensuring all relevant health and safety requirements are met.
??? Maintaining fit for purpose lab equipment and oversee the maintenance and calibration to ensure accuracy and reliability.
??? Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory processes and workflows.
??? Developing and maintain safe work practices in conjunction with manager and ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in laboratory operations.
??? Supervise and coordinate laboratory activities, including sample collection, preparation, and analysis, to ensure timely and accurate results.
??? Manage a team of operators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
??? Monitor and track samples and gather and analyse radiation reading results etc.
??? Provide operational support to operators.
??? Monitor and track laboratory metrics, analyse data trends, and implement process improvements to optimize laboratory efficiency.
??? Perform defect reporting and end of day reporting.
??? Stay abreast of industry advancements and emerging technologies in laboratory operations and recommend their implementation when appropriate.
Duties of an operator - The labouring role involves taking bagged numbered samples of exploration drilling product, transferring to a tray in an appropriate manner for scanning by the machine, and returning the bag(s) and pallet with attention to detail to maintain sample identification number consistency. Also, some restacking of the sample bags.
The machine operation involves basic process and computer skills to follow procedure of connecting laptop to digital assay unit and running basic program to input sample number and scan sample tray, and analysing scan images to determine scan image quality and adjust scan settings as required.
**Key Requirements**:
??? Bachelor???s degree in Laboratory technologies, Lab Science or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
??? Proven experience in laboratory operations, and practice in a supervisory or leadership role.
??? Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, protocols, and safety guidelines.
??? Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
??? Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
??? Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
??? Familiarity with data analytics and artificial intelligence concepts is a plus.
??? Knowledge in a mining environments and familiarity with safety procedures.
??? Developed understanding of safety standards and statutory requirements.
??? Demonstrated ability to follow defined processes and procedure.
??? Exposure to engineering trades.
??? Pass pre-employment and periodic medical and police check.
??? Ability to co-ordinate teams of 2+ people.
