**The role**

A senior leadership opportunity is available to lead APRA’s Enterprise Security Management function. As APRA’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will be taking on a strategic role in leading APRA’s security function and responsible for cybersecurity, physical security, privacy, and personnel security.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience in operational excellence, delivering results, and business acumen, in setting and continuously evolving security measures to protect APRA and its staff.

As a senior leader, you will also develop and continuously strengthen your network with security professionals across APRA’s peer agencies, and key Government centres such as the ACSC and Home Affairs.

The CISO collaborates closely with the CIO, CRO and the Executive Team to calibrate security requirements to meet business objectives and compliance obligations based on thoughtful consideration of stakeholder expectations, resource constraints and interdependencies.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will maintain, improve, and manage APRA’s security in relation to its people, information, and assets such that APRA remains within its risk appetite.

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- Leading and developing staff professionally, including the identification and fostering of potential talent throughout the team and division.
- Modelling inclusive leadership behaviors and instilling an open culture within the team, where divergent views are shared and respected.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring APRA’s security plans, policies, procedures, and systems across the breadth of APRA’s activities whilst also managing the ongoing and day-to-day activities.
- Building a demonstrable and meaningful security culture within APRA.
- Providing practical high level strategic advice and support to Executive and Management teams regarding the protective security arrangements for APRA.

Operational responsibility for the following areas:

- Monitoring and responding to security threats and incidents via APRA’s Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC).
- Personnel security vetting and liaisons with AGSVA.
- Monitor and uplift APRA’s physical security setup.
- Monitor and ensure APRA’s ongoing compliance with its Privacy obligations.
- Deliver initiatives to ensure APRA meets its target PSPF and Essential 8 maturity levels.
- Provide security advice on projects and in BAU.
