**Your new role**:
The Nulka system is the result of a collaborative development between Australia and the US, and brings together advanced flight vehicle guidance and control techniques, and sophisticated RF electronic technologies. Fully autonomous after launch, the unique flight vehicle design allows the decoy's flight-path to be maintained with a high degree of precision over a wide range of environmental conditions, resulting in extremely high levels of mission effectiveness against modern anti-ship missiles.
Nulka is an integral element of a comprehensive, integrated layered defence system, and its unique capabilities complement conventional hard-kill missile and gun systems.
As an Engineering Technician, you are accountable for providing technical support to the design, development and integration of systems and/ or equipment, this involves providing input into the design, development and implementation of systems and equipment and actual conduct of installing, set to work, acceptance testing and maintaining the system and equipment against technical requirements.

**More specifically, this role will see you**:

- Ensure that a high standard of professionalism and workmanship is maintained at all times
- Ensure that all maintenance activity is completed in accordance with work orders by authorised personnel using approved data and tools/ test equipment
- Provide support to engineering investigations and related activities as required but consistent with the requirements of the maintenance schedule
- Provide support and guidance to engineers in the development of technical drawings and schematics of electronic assemblies and or cable assemblies and design for manufacturability
- Perform hand assembly and soldering of surface mount and through hole mount devices onto bare printed circuits as required.
- Perform fault finding, diagnosis and repair of printed circuit boards and cable assemblies.
- Provide Field Service Support to RAN ships, RAN shore establishments and BAE Systems Australia businesses on an as-required basis
- Perform DLM maintenance activities as required to meet the requirements of the maintenance schedule
- Ensure that all Maximo records and other documentation is completed in full and in a timely fashion
- Conduct reviews of Bill of Materials and technical documents to support the development of engineering designs
- Ensure that any issues with regards safety, approved data, personnel, tooling / test equipment are recorded, reported and, where possible, resolved in a timely fashion
- Ensure that all tooling, test equipment and any other items used in the course of maintenance are serviceable, safe and fit for purpose

About you

**As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have**:

- Significant experience in electronics/ avionics system maintenance including two or more of the following aspects;
- Installation/ set-to-work
- Troubleshooting
- Prototyping/ manufacturing of electronic assemblies
- Component level repair
- Associate diploma in electronic and/or electrical or equivalent experience
- An understanding of engineering drawings, writing lists and manuals
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment
- Able to meet soldering requirements as required for the role

**Clearances**:
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
