**Position Information**:
Swansea High School is a comprehensive, co-educational high school nestled in the picturesque seaside suburb of Caves Beach. With an enrolment of 745 students in 2024, including an Aboriginal student enrolment of 115 students, we are committed to building a culture of high expectations, providing a supportive and innovative learning environment, and fostering strong relationships and partnerships that enable students to realise their potential.
We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school which is student led with high expectations developed by students, for students. The school's PBL values are _Respect, Responsibility, Ready to Learn. S_trong student voice and student leadership programs are a cornerstone for ensuring students are engaged and well connected to the school.
We are an inclusive school setting with our Special Education Unit consisting of 5 classes: Three MC Classes, one ED Class and one BD Class. This will increase in 2025 with the addition of another MC and ED classes.
We are committed to incorporating a variety of literacy and numeracy strategies across all Key Learning Areas to improve pedagogical practice and student learning outcomes. Our teaching staff are dedicated, caring, innovative, focused on continual improvement and support curriculum delivery aimed at meeting the academic and social needs of all students.
Swansea High School is proud of the outstanding Aboriginal Education Programs in place across the school which have proven success in improving student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy, providing strong partnerships with our local Minimbah Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), and ensuring there is strong attendance and transition points in place for all of our students.
**Selection Criteria**:
- Approval to teach Secondary Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
- Highly developed communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students and staff to build and promote a positive learning culture.
- Potential to contribute to whole school programs to develop a culture of reading, literacy, digital literacy, research skills and critical thinking for students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Capacity to provide an innovative and creative approach to promoting and managing a library that functions as a vibrant learning hub for the school, supporting teaching and learning across all KLAs.
