**About the role**

We are looking for experienced Disability Support Workers to join our **Supported Independent Living (Group Homes) and Community Support team **on a Casual basis. We are looking for female support workers only, fluent in English and own a car. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play an important role to support and empower People with disability to live independently in their own home, community engagement and to achieve their individual goals.

We are also looking for the following traits:

- confident in community access and assisting with appointments.
- female
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
- assisting participants with domestic duties including cleaning and cooking.
- knowledge of and safe administration of medication.
- understanding of restrictive practices and behaviour support plans.
- Strong communication skills. Preferably fluent in English.
- Know how to be a team player and to communicate effectively within a team.
- Able to provide personal care and grooming.
- Reliable.
- Fexible.
- Honest.
- Shows initiative and willingness to learn.
- Can work as a team or on your own.
- Following and supporting individual NDIS goals.
- Assisting participants to develop daily living skills by facilitating their participation in budgeting, shopping, meal planning and preparation, cooking and management of residence
- Empathetic and understanding of behaviours.
- Able to complete necessary documentation.
- Able to communicate effectively with participants family members as well as government provider**s**

**Skills & Experience**
- Certificate III in Disability, Community Services or equivalent, demonstrated experience supporting People with Disability
- Manual handling experience required
- Experience supporting clients exhibiting challenging behaviours would be highly regarded
- Current Drivers Licence [Own Vehicle]
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Capability to maintain client’s privacy and confidentiality
- Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster including weekends, nights and public holidays
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Admin skills required
- Great organizational skills
