**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**

The Parks and City Greening Branch is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and maintenance of Council’s parks, open space and street trees. The Parks and City Greening Branch adopts a holistic approach, combining strategic foresight and operational excellence to enhance, protect and extend the city’s network of parks and green infrastructure, which is central to the city’s liveability, amenity and global brand.

The Gardens for Wildlife Coordinator will work collaboratively to facilitate programs that deliver ecological and health and wellbeing benefits for the city and its residents. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining channels to support strong and collaborative relationships between Council, community partners, volunteers and key stakeholders.

A key requirement of the role is to coordinate the Gardens for Wildlife Program, including recruiting and training volunteers to visit gardens; arranging volunteer meetings, events and activities as well as coordinating the visits to gardens by volunteers and to design events and communications to encourage participation by gardeners.

**Selection Criteria**

- Organisational, and project management skills - preferably with experience initiating, developing, and managing implementation of community or volunteer programs

In addition, the **Gardens for Wildlife Coordinator **will also have;
- Experience/knowledge in the fields of urban ecology and horticulture
- Experience in working with communities or private landholders in community engagement, citizen science and/or the management and training of volunteers
- Clear Police Check and Working with Children Check to the satisfaction of the City of Melbourne - Mandatory requirement of role
