**Description**

Australia’s favourite theme parks present an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Merchandise Buyer to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will source, develop, purchase and manage all products to drive the financial performance of the merchandise division for Dreamworld, White Water World and SkyPoint. You will also be responsible for ensuring that there are accurate stock levels in all areas to achieve budgeted sales and increase gross profit margins.

**Key activities and responsibilities**:

- Deliver and achieve Sales, Gross Margin, Stock turn and GMROI budgets
- Source product to achieve budgeted sales and gross margin
- Purchase, order, reorder and plan product development
- Set and present the merchandise strategy for Dreamworld twice a year
- Review category performance and range plans on a monthly basis
- Present actual vs. budget performance at monthly buying meetings and articulate strategies to remedy any underperforming areas and lessons learned from well performing categories.
- Develop and execute a process for managing aged inventory and exiting stock from the business, in line with company objectives
- Understand what is happening in the market, anticipate forward trends and identify merchandise or concept opportunities
- Meet or exceed the company’s budgeted financial objectives
- Update and maintain the promotional calendar throughout the financial year
- Provide feedback on outlet stocktake results throughout the year
- Previous experience in retail buying
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and genuine interest in current Retail market trends
- Tertiary qualifications in Business/Marketing/Finance or other related fields (desirable)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work successfully under pressure in an environment with competing deadlines and multiple objectives
- Stakeholder engagement skills as the role will involve negotiating with suppliers and manufacturers to achieve margins set by the department and communication with both internal and external clients and customers
- Financial acumen - ability to drive sales (by space, by sqm, SPH), GMROI (Gross Margin Return on Inventory - calculated as GM $ divided by average stock turn over 13 months) and stock turn
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
