**Opportunity**
As an integral part of the Sustainability and External Relations team the Environmental Advisor - Processing and Projects provides comprehensive support in environmental management across our processing facilities, tailings facilities, and biodiversity offset projects.

You will actively contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of procedures and systems to ensure the safe operation of our large, complex open pit gold mine, processing plant, and port facility. Additionally, you will be involved in future expansion plans and approvals, making a lasting impact on our environmental practices.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Uphold and contribute to the enhancement of Newmont's environmental management systems and commitments.
- Provide support and advice to the Processing and Projects department, particularly regarding the Residue Disposal Area construction project, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Manage day-to-day activities related to flora and fauna protection, including the management of invasive and other problematic species. Contribute to the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity within our operations.
- Assist in the management of biodiversity offset sites to meet statutory obligations and biodiversity outcomes, including coordinating inputs from business partners and preparing reports.
- Identify and assess options to meet biodiversity offset obligations giving consideration to statutory requirements, risk, time and cost implications.
- Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to seamlessly integrate environmental considerations into all operational activities. Promote environmentally conscious decision-making across the organisation.
- Conduct environmental training and awareness programs, work area inspections, contractor management engagement and report (and investigate) environmental incidents.

**About You**
We are seeking a passionate and proactive environmental Advisor with tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science (or related) and practical experience in mining environmental management.

You will bring with you:

- Sound understanding of WA and Commonwealth legislation relevant to mining.
- Working knowledge of offsets management plans and associated cost forecasting tools, complemented with time-based reconciliation of cost expenditure and reporting.
- Effective communication skills to listen, consult and negotiate.
- Strong interpersonal skills, motivated to work with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Proactive personal commitment in regard to Safety, and Environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
