About the role

Duties and responsibilities

Your duties and responsibilities include:

- Preparing and building SMP, MPT, BJL, FJL and DJL optical fibre joint closures for both aerial and underground cables.
- Splicing both single (LFN) and ribbon (DFN) fibre cables.
- Performing optical power meter, OTDR and Insertion Loss Testing of optical fibres.
- Both aerial and underground fibre cable hauling in the LFN network.
- Updating workbooks with optical power meter and OTDR test results.
- Exchange patching.
- Installing network equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting using the OTDR.
- Labelling cables and network devices to required standards.
- Scope of works preparation, material ordering and reconciliation.
- As-Built Documentation including red lines, artefacts.
- Setting up worksites and traffic management, ensuring the safety of the worksites.
- Rod & Roping (Pipe proofing).
- Clearing Blockages in Underground Pipes.
- Locating and exposing buried pits and cleaning them.
- *Installing pit and pipe solutions for telecommunication infrastructure.
- *Trenching, Boring and Grundomat operations.
- *Asbestos Pit Replacement.
- *Removal of non-friable ACM.
- Sound understanding of WHS requirements including SDS, WIs/JSAs/Pre-starts, SWMS & Risk Assessments.

Qualifications and accreditations
- Rights to Work Australia (Valid Passport and/or valid Visa is required. Visa sponsorship is also available).
- Construction Industry white card.
- Recent Police Clearance (Must be less than 6 months old).
- Relevant NBN fibre splicing Accreditations (Including skills 9,12 and 13).
- First Aid & CPR.
- Full NSW Driver’s Licence.
- ACMA registration.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- *CPCCDE3014A (remove non-friable asbestos).
- *CPCCBC4051A (supervise asbestos removal).
- *At least two years of experience of removing non-friable asbestos.
- Confined Space & Gas Test.
- Power Awareness.
- RIIWHS302D- Implement traffic management plan.
- Working at heights.
- Strong understanding of optical fibre networks.
- Flu and Covid-19 Vaccinations may be required in Aged Care settings.

**Skills**:

- OTDR troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read, understand and mark-up telecommunication plans.
- Competent in utilising tablet devices and/or laptops.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus as the roles involve interacting with our customers/clients.
- Ability to operate the high-pressure flush.
- Competent in using manual tools.
- *Ability to read DBYD (Dial Before You Dig) plans.
- *Ability to locate underground services.
- *Ability to operate a Grundomat, jack hammer and other civils equipment.

Working Hours
- 7 ½ hours a day, Monday - Friday

Remunerations

In return, we offer:

- Annual salary between $60,000-$80,000 depending on experience.
