We are seeking a reliable cleaner/cook who can commit to regular hours to support people in their own home in Kangaroo Ground, VIC 3097.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

Cleaning and Maintenance:

- Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming, to ensure a clean and hygienic living environment.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in individual bedrooms and communal spaces.

Meal Preparation:

- Prepare and cook nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and individual preferences, ensuring a balanced and varied menu.
- Adhere to any specific dietary restrictions or food allergies.
- Plan weekly menus, considering the individuals' dietary needs, cultural preferences, and personal choices.
- Assist individuals with mealtime activities as necessary, ensuring a positive and supportive dining experience.

Safety and Hygiene:

- Maintain a safe working environment by following health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Store and handle cleaning supplies and cooking ingredients appropriately.
- Follow proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety.
- Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the relevant authorities.

Documentation and Communication:

- Maintain accurate records of cleaning and cooking activities, including cleaning schedules, inventory, and meal preparation logs.
- Communicate effectively with the support team, providing updates on any issues or concerns related to cleaning or cooking tasks.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless coordination and effective support for the individuals.

- Confident in working independently

- Demonstrated skills supporting and caring for adults with complex support need e.g. challenging behaviours, complex medical supports.
- Demonstrated ability to establish a professional working relationship with clients that is supportive, encouraging and challenging.
- Demonstrated ability and skill to work within an essential Lifestyle Planning process for persons with a disability
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills,, negotiation, problem solving, and the ability to communicate effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability and willingness to work in a diverse range of settings including but not limited to - a person’s home or place of residence, other services, community groups and other community settings.
- Supporting client with daily life activities such as shopping, grocery and community participation
- Manual handling and use of equipment as per client’s needs
- Understanding challenges faced by client with mental health and provide positive approach to manage their goals
- Creating a safe and comfortable environment
- Transportation and supporting social engagement
- Having a calm approach to client’s behaviour
- Meal preparation and shopping assistance
- Promoting independent living, community participation and social inclusion

**Selection Criteria**
- Previous experience in cleaning and cooking, preferably in a disability support or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and hygiene practices.
- Understanding of dietary requirements and meal planning.
- Ability to follow recipes and adapt them to meet specific dietary needs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude towards individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Note: A valid Working with Children Check and/or Police Check may be required for this position, depending on local regulations and organizational policies.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $30.95 per hour
