**The Role**
The RAAF Institute of Aviation Medicine (IAM) is seeking a Medical Officer to join the Aeromedical Analysis and Decision Support (AADS) Team as Aeromedical Advisor.

This position offers a rare opportunity to be involved in enabling and supporting Defence aviation through the production of aeromedical guidance tailored to provide Commanders and aviation safety stakeholders with information necessary to support decision making in areas related to human performance, aeromedical hazards, and aviation safety.

Working in an organisation that values innovation and expertise, you will be collaborating with uniformed and civilian aviation medicine specialists to contribute to the important body of work that AADS draw from to provide timely and appropriate guidance to both Defence and non-Defence stakeholders.

**About our Team**
IAM is the ADF unit providing domain expertise in aviation medicine and human factors, supporting aviation capability across Tri-Services, providing specialist guidance and expert advice for:

- Specialist advice in aviation medicine/human factors;
- Human-systems integration and ergonomics regarding operating aircraft or control systems;
- Interface between aircrew and life-support systems;
- Hazard analysis and advice in assessment/ management of risks arising from human physiology, ergonomics, anthropometry, medical factors, or human performance limitations;
- Assessing likelihood and consequence of medical hazards in aircrew and controllers, and working with risk-holders within a harmonised Defence risk-management system;
- Supporting unit-level investigations arising from aviation safety events, or formal investigations for aircraft incidents or accidents;

- Manage workflows and resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes;
- Manage concurrent activities with competing priorities within the boundaries and direction established by IAM;
- Comply with organisational values, sharing responsibility for the achievement of team goals and objectives;
- Maintain prolonged focus on detailed analysis tasks;
- Develop formal reports and technical advice to a high standard;
