The Fortescue Technical Services-Metallurgy team is seeking Principal Geometallurgist that understands the inherent multidisciplinary nature of Geometallurgy and is comfortable operating between the Geological, Metallurgical and Mine Planning realms. This role will be responsible for adding maximum value to business through incorporating Geometallurgical data into existing resource and mining models that will assist with increasing orebody knowledge within all hematite and magnetite deposits. Key to the success of this position will be the ability to develop good interpersonal relationships with workers on all levels of the organisation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support Technical Services Metallurgists in the quarterly analysis of product prediction reviews across all mine planning horizons
- Plan and support metallurgical 6”/PQ diamond drilling for operational sites as well as greenfield study projects to improve orebody knowledge
- Analyse results from diamond drilling testwork in conjunction with geological information to develop suitable geometallurgical domains
- Continuous engagement with mine geology, resource definition, drilling and resource estimation teams to understand the geology of the deposits
- Provide support to the Projects and Technical Marketing teams in understanding the mineralogy of various deposits and products
- Provide training and mentoring to geologists and metallurgists

**Key accountabilities**:

- Lead by example with safe behaviours and leadership.
- Support & guide the Geometallurgy team & coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure optimal business solutions
- Support the Technical Services group to add maximum value to the business
- Investigate relationships between key metrics and material characteristics to develop and improve geometallurgical domains

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- 10+ years’ experience in Geology or Metallurgy or Mineral Processing within iron ore deposits
- Tertiary qualification in Geology/Geoscience/Metallurgy
- Strong understanding of iron ore (hematite and magnetite) metallurgy, mineralogy and material types
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Fundamental mine planning, mine geology and drilling knowledge
- Competency in statistical data analysis and associated tools
- Proficient with Arc Map and MS Office
- Knowledge of Vulcan/ Leapfrog (any 3D visualisation software) or Tableau/ Python/ SQL is favourable
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to be agile and resilient when managing diverse workloads with multiple priorities
