**About the Opportunity**

As our new Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a strong focus on care and HSE excellence within Serco Facilities Management (FM). You will work as part of the HSE Team who support our contract and front-line teams to achieve operational success through the implementation of health, safety and environmental programs that assist Serco employees to think safe, work safe & get home safe.

Through partnering with our operational teams you will provide practical advice and guidance to support decision making that reduces risk to health and safety so far as reasonably practicable and beyond.

You will lead, educate and empower, focusing on being brilliant at the basics, identifying opportunities for improvement and success, and where possible exceeding legislative requirements, in line with Serco’s value that Safety & Wellbeing Starts with Care.

You will be primarily based in Melbourne across a variety of commercial sites and parks/gardens/outdoor spaces. Travel to regional Victoria will be required and occasional travel to South Australia and Western Australia.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Partnering with Operations to provide advice, training, consultation, monitoring and governance.
- Support stakeholders and ensure all relevant HSEQ legislation, policies and procedures are implemented and effective.
- Implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System, programs and initiatives to maintain ISO 45001, 14001 & 9001 accreditation.
- Coach and support the business to understand their risk, determine and implement appropriate risk management activities including the development of safe working procedures and practices.
- Lead risk assessments, ensuring appropriate controls are implemented and reviewed for effectiveness.
- Conducting site-based inspections to maintain standards
- Coordinating and developing training programs for Managers, Supervisors, and Workers
- Developing and implementing toolbox talks to educate and improve safety in the field
- Monitoring and managing incident and hazard reports and actions
- Investigating HSE incidents and providing practical advice to reduce risks
- Supporting early intervention and injury management programs

**About you**
- HSE Experience in the Facilities Services/Cleaning & Maintenance Industry or Gardening/Horticulture Industry
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of ISO and industry standards
- Knowledge of WHS legislation and regulations
- Paid Working with Childrens Check (WWCC)
- Current Driver’s License - You’ll need to conduct on-site visits
