The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is responsible for the safety of international shipping and domestic commercial vessels, protection of the environment from ship sourced pollution and search and rescue nationally. **ABOUT THE ROLE**

Reporting to the Principal Regional Port Marine Surveyor, as the Marine Inspector, you will have the opportunity to support the key initiatives of the region and provide input to broader strategies and goals. You will play an important and collaborative role as an ambassador for AMSA by sharing your knowledge and expertise to promote a safe culture within the maritime industry. Specifically, you will be responsible for conducting a range of field-based, face-to-face compliance activities, identifying unsafe practices and non-compliance and ensuring they are addressed appropriately.

**Skills**:
People who are successful in this position must have the following pre-requisites:

- Experience within a safety, compliance or risk management position; ideally within the maritime industry or related industries.
- A fast learner with a willingness to participate in development opportunities, with an ability to share these experiences across a team.
- Strong presentation skills and a passion for supporting a safety-first culture.
- Technically qualified with a current Australian driver’s license, as travel will be a requirement of this position.
