**The Role**:
This is a 6-month fixed term, full time role based at Puckapunyal Military Base.

This Seasonal Firefighter role will see you providing range management services to the Defence Force and is a crucial component in ensuring the live-fire ranges are used safely.

**Duties & responsibilities**:

- Undertake first response bush firefighting activities.
- Maintain and Operate Range Live Fire Target Equipment.
- Ensure adherence to Range Standing Orders and report any identified breaches immediately to range Control.
- Undertake Land management activities including but not limited to grass cutting, weed spraying and mapping.
- Assist the Range Supervisor with HSE Site Inspections, Job Analysis and safety Observations.

**What you’ll need to be successful**:

- Computer skills including Word & Excel experience - desirable.
- Ability to use tools specific to range operations and maintenance processes including (but not limited to) power tools and chain saws.
- Experience in radio communication, both on handheld and vehicle mounted radios (PUAOPE002B - Operate communication systems and equipment).
- Demonstrate ability to read and navigate using a map and compass including highly competent in map to ground navigation from a vehicle.
- Heavy vehicle licences - Medium Rigid (MR) and/or Heavy Rigid (HR)
- Certificate in First Aid (desirable).
- Firefighting qualifications as follows:

- **PUAFIR215** - Prevent Injury,
- **PUAFIR204B** - Respond to wildfire,
- **PUAOPE013A** - Operate communications systems and equipment,
- **PUAEQU001B** - Prepare, maintain and test response equipment.
