About the role
The Workshop Controller is responsible for delegation and processing of all service jobs through the Predelivery department workshop, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of all new vehicles through to sale. The role provides support and assistance to the Predelivery Manager to achieve productivity and efficiency targets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create relevant repair orders and carry out final costing and invoicing pertaining to the required new vehicle preparation as outlined by the service and sales departments
- Issue purchase orders to sub-contractors and sublet suppliers as required for new vehicles
- Ensure relations with the manufacturer are maintained to the highest standards and coordinate manufacturer requirements
- Conduct regular briefings with pre delivery team and communicate expectations of the service and sales departments
- Work closely with the sales department, advise on the delivery times of internal tasks and ensure efficient deliveries of new vehicles
- Participate in field day set ups and the delivery of vehicles to shows and events
- Promote the managerial responsibility of reporting supervisors and conduct individual performance reviews
- Manage the pre delivery team to ensure the brand is presented to every customer in a professional manner
- Participate in new vehicle handover to customer as required by the sales department
- Ensure customer service matters are dealt with promptly and efficiently
- Provide support and training to pre delivery team to achieve desired customer satisfaction criteria
- Regularly review and maintain up to date product knowledge
- Monitor daily productivity and efficiency of the pre delivery department
- Ensure all records of the pre delivery department are kept in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements
- Regular review and update of S.O.P’s and communicate to pre delivery department
- Ensure all pre delivery personnel comply with company WHS policies and processes at all times
- Assist the Service Manager in implementing WHS standards and procedures
- Report all incidents, injuries and near misses to Service Manager
Skills & Experience
- Qualified & experienced automotive mechanic
- Current drivers’ licence (auto & manual)
- Knowledge of the automotive industry
- Strong leadership ability and people skills
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly and positive attitude
- Ability to drive WHS culture and a thorough understanding of WHS principles
- Good computer skills
