Post Doctoral Research Fellow

**Full-time, Fixed-term position (21 months)**:

The Post-doctoral Research Fellow is funded through the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science, and Innovation grant focused on developing Artificial Intelligence (AI)/ Machine learning models for clinical data to predict diseases and complications. The project includes data from eye clinics, emergency departments, and oncology. The position will report to and work with Professor Chair in Digital Health and Telemedicine and other project investigators including PhD students on various digital health projects, which are of translational nature.

The primary focus of this position will be research and development of AI and/or machine learning models to address health or medical problems.

In this role, you will:

- Conduct AI / Machine learning research either as a member of a team or independently, and produce conference, seminar papers and publications from that research
- Provide guidance in the research effort of junior members of research-only academic staff in their research area. Working with PhD and postgraduate students to ensure data is managed and available in a timely manner to facilitate analyses and reporting, writing and presenting of research
- Contribute to the preparation, or where appropriate, individual preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies
- Assist with the preparation of research grants, and exploring new funding opportunities
- Statistical data analysis and reporting
- Contributing as an author to manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals

**SELECTION CRITERIA**

**_ Essential_**
- Supportive of the **Objects** of The University of Notre Dame Australia
- A relevant PhD in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and/or machine learning (obtained in the last 10 years)
- Experience working within a University or teaching environment
- Hands-on experience in developing AI/ machine learning techniques
- Publications and grant writing experience
- Actively involved with the supervision of postgraduate research students in AI and machine learning

**_ Desirable_**
- Knowledge of digital health and human biology
- Knowledge of Phyton, C++ and other widely used languages
- Familiarity with statistical software packages and mobile app development
