THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for an efficient, highly organised, and proactive Academic Governance and Curriculum Officer to support the delivery of academic governance and curriculum management activities and processes in the Faculty of Arts. This role is a 12-month secondment opportunity.
Key Accountabilities include:
- In consultation with the Educational Governance and Initiatives Manager, Head of Educational Services, Deputy Dean Education and Employability, and Heads of School and Departments, coordinate the administration of the academic governance and curriculum related processes;- Provide advice and recommendations to the Head of Educational Services and the Deputy Dean of Education and Employability in relation to curriculum and governance-related decisions;- Proactively identify and implement improvements in relation to curriculum and governance-related processes;- Support the annual planning and coordination of governance activities across the Faculty, ensuring alignment and coordination with relevant University processes;- Provide secretariat support for academic committees of the Faculty Board. This includes: planning and scheduling of committee meetings to align with key academic milestones in the Faculty, preparing comprehensive agendas and minutes and managing the implementation of action items and decisions arising from academic committee meetings;- Liaise with the DVC (Academic) portfolio to implement curriculum changes and manage the annual curriculum cycle;- Provide administrative support for curriculum management, including developing annual plans and implementing MQCMS curriculum processes;- Assist academic staff as required with the review and proofreading of curriculum proposals;- Liaise with the Office of Governance Services to ensure the progression of curriculum matters through Faculty Board;- Contribute to the monitoring and reviewing of processes relating to curriculum and governance activities to ensure integrity of information and ensure that the Faculty meets all relevant University requirements;- Provide administrative support for exceptions to academic policies;- Provide advice to staff on policy and curriculum processes related to curriculum development;- Identify and escalate any implementation issues or breaches in relation to University academic policies and procedures;- Manage academic appeals and complaints processes, as required and in collaboration with any Faculty Complaints & Appeals Officer. This includes initial investigation and review and implementation of Appeals Committee outcomes;- Manage processes in relation to academic grades (including change of grade and grade appeals) as they relate to academic appeals processes and outcomes;- Coordinate and implement decisions of relevant committees in relation to Faculty prizes and awards as required;- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the Faculty and the University to identify, adopt and implement improvements to existing academic governance and curriculum management processes and systems;- Comply with relevant professional standards and codes of ethics and EEO and WHS regulations;- Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.
