**Head Gardener and Grounds Supervisor**

Delatite Winery is looking for a suitable person to take on this role. They must be knowledgeable and experienced in all areas of chemical free/natural gardening and be flexible to assist in other parts of the vineyard and winemaking business The position is full-time and requires excellent ability to understand and execute plans and work to budget. Additionally, the successful applicant may be required to work on weekends during busy times in the vineyard

**Tasks Include**:

- Perform garden maintenance, including lawn maintenance, pruning, care of garden beds and trees, shrubs, citrus and fruit orchard general foliage and vegetation.
- Inspecting condition and health of plants and trees, providing treatment if needed
- Shaping branches and trees according to garden design layout and pattern
- Utilise mechanical tools and equipment with appropriate OH&S procedures. These include tractors, mowers, ATV’s, irrigation pumps, forklift, chainsaws, brushcuters
- Inspect and repair or maintain irrigation equipment and infrastructure in all areas of the business including the vineyards.
- Assess layouts for new soft construction, making changes where necessary to accommodate garden design requirements as per our master landscape plans.
- Implement pest control methods as appropriate after thorough inspection and identification protocols are followed.
- Ensuring a safe working environment for all work areas undertaken
- Report to Vineyard Manager and Managing Director and report all work issues before, during and upon completion of a project

**Minimum Requirements**:

- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV OR
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in vegetable gardens and orchards
- A working knowledge and understanding of Permaculture Principles and Biodynamic Agriculture.
- Experience in making both physical compost and liquid fungal fermentations to use in orchards/gardens and vineyard.
- Be aware of and experienced in implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as guided by a non -chemical approach
- Valid Australian Driver’s License

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
