**Role**:
The assistant principal reports directly to the principal.

Assistant principals have a primary responsibility for the management of significant areas or functions within the school to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program. In exercising the responsibility, assistant principals will have the authority to make all significant decisions relating to the program, budget and staff relating to their area of designated responsibility within the framework of the school's strategic plan, policies and budget. Assistant principals will contribute to the overall management of the school through involvement in policy formulation and decision making.

The management of significant school program or functional areas in schools involve assistant principals in the analysis of the needs of students and the translation of state educational policy and frameworks into appropriate education programs to meet the needs of all students.

Typically assistant principals will be responsible for the effective use of the teaching staff and program budget of a defined area of the school's operation and for the oversight and leadership of the educational programs provided utilising these resources.

**Responsibilities**:

- Developing whole school curriculum documentation and overseeing the implementation of the school wellbeing program that incorporates (SWPBS, RRRR and Berry Street Education Model)
- Working with the SWPBS regional coach to oversee implementation across our school.
- Coaching and mentoring staff to implement SWPBS processes and procedures with fidelity.
- Representing the school on the RRRR network group and responsibility for leading professional learning for staff
- Implementation of Berry Street Education Model strategies across the school and coordination and delivery of ongoing professional learning and training for new staff to ensure consistency across the school.
- Leading the Wellbeing and Inclusion team, chairing meetings and overseeing the work of the Learning Specialist Inclusion (DI) and the Behaviour Support Specialist.
- Co convening and facilitating meetings of the Wellbeing Leaders team (made up of a representative from each community) with the Learning Specialist - Inclusion (DI)
- Leading the implementation of the High Impact Wellbeing Strategies across the school
- Contributing to the daily organisation and managing the allocation and replacement of Education Support staff.
- Overseeing the Education Support staff allocation and chairing the ES team meetings
- Organising and facilitating SSGs in conjunction with the Learning Specialist Inclusion (DI)
- Contributing to the development of IEPs for students with additional learning needs as required.
- Contributing to the leadership of the school as part of the School Improvement Team.
- Monitoring student attendance and working with teams to follow up and address absences across the school
- Overseeing the implementation of the Attitudes to School Survey and presenting findings and strategies for improvement to the School Improvement Team
