Harness Energy Services is a leading Queensland based specialist Labour Supply Provider and Registered Training Organisation. We offer a wide range of nationally accredited safety training and provide top-notch personnel to our valued clients across multiple industry sectors including Oil and Gas, Construction, Manufacturing, Warehousing etc.

The Mentor is responsible for the overall development, growth of trainees and apprentices of the Harness GTO (Apprenticeship and Traineeship division) in the Indigenous Careers Program. These key goals are to be delivered in alignment with Harness Energy company values.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
**Work Experience**:

- Experience working for a GTO, ASSN, Job Service Provider or RTO **and/or**:

- Experience in social sciences, behavioural sciences, youth work or a discipline relevant to community development and services

Desirable Experience (but not necessary)
- Education and qualifications in Mentoring or Workplace Health and Safety

Note that it will be a requirement for mentors to complete a formal mentoring qualification if not already obtained. This will be provided as part of their work package.

**Role Experience**
- Proven experience in leading, motivating and communicating with a broad range of groups and individuals (particularly Indigenous teenagers and young adults)
- Highly developed interpersonal skills; ability to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, gain their confidence and build a sense of mutual understanding
- Proven experience in planning, initiating, developing and managing mentoring options
- Demonstrated negotiating, mediating and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed oral communication skills (including presentation, influencing and negotiation) and written communication skills (including the production of well-formatted reports & documentation)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team
- Proven experience in analysing, evaluating and resolving complex problems as they relate to this role
- Proven experience in managing a diverse range of tasks within changing deadlines
- Desire to be part of a growing, high achieving, successful service organisation
- Demonstrated proficient computer skills such as the Microsoft Suite of programs.
- Demonstrated ability in the creation and maintenance of client files and confidential information

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Mentoring a case load of apprentices and trainees with day-to-day tasks whilst following company and host employer procedures
- Maintaining employer and client relationships and communicating with account managers and supervisors of apprentices and trainees
- Working closely with applicants to identify roles and career pathways
- Liaising with apprentices, employers and parents / personal networks (if required) as defined in their mentoring plan
- Negotiating positive outcomes where differences arise between employers and apprentices / trainees
- Providing appropriate information, support, referral and advocacy for apprentices
- Liaise with specialised organisations to ensure complex issues/needs are appropriately addressed by service provision
- Maintain a record of visits and record information for data collection purposes.
- Monitoring and participation in work, health, and safety checks at host employer’s work sites to ensure apprentice / trainee is safe
- Adhere to all work site WHS safety requirements and encourage apprentice / trainee adherence to safety policies and procedures
- Commitment to act in a manner which promotes and protects the safety and wellbeing of children and young people by adhering to the Child Safety National Principles
- Working closely with the recruitment team on campaigns and roles
- Market to new employers and successfully bring on new business/ roles / clients.
- Reviewing current clients for opportunities to host apprentices and trainees
- Any other tasks assigned which may be reasonably requested from time to time, which contribute to the success of the organisation.

**General**
- Provide a client-friendly service that caters for, and delivers on industry needs and ensures the delivery of quality customer service
- Work co-operatively with other Harness staff and business units to achieve organisational objectives
- Maintain a high standard of work practices and ensure integrity, respect and confidentiality
- Be adaptable with working hours to accommodate service needs
