St Patrick’s Primary School, Cessnock is located in the beautiful Hunter Valley area of New South Wales cratering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Surrounded outside of the city centre by verdant countryside, Cessnock is the largest town in Australia’s oldest wine region. The region is full of activities catering to various lifestyle pursuits and is less than an hour outside of the Newcastle CBD. A school of 362 students, St Patrick's provides a place, built on the Josephite tradition, where creative learning and the individual talents of each student and teacher is appreciated, embraced and encouraged. The school has a strong focus on community and is committed to supporting each individual student and teacher.

The Canteen Officer is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the school canteen including opening and closing the canteen and preparing and selling menu items as per the canteen menu. The position requires the ability to follow relevant food handling and money handling policies in addition to maintaining a cooperative working environment and provide a friendly, customer focused service to students and staff within the school community.

The Canteen Officer will support the development of strong relationships within the school community in particular with the students, parents and volunteers, teachers and other school personnel.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
**EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA**

Canteen Officer Level 3
- Demonstrated understanding of current Work, Health and Safety requirements.
- Knowledge of preparation, proper storage and disposal of food.
- Knowledge of cleaning, and hand hygiene.
- Practical experience in the operation of a café or canteen.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and the ability to achieve organisational and team values, goals and objectives and to behave professionally.
- Experience in handling cash.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Basic Food Handling Certificate
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
