- The Wardsperson Day Supervisor position is a support to the Wardsperson Operation Manager, Wardsperson. The Canberra Hospital is a 24-hour service that operates daily including weekends and Public Holidays. This position is to assist with co-ordination of Wardsperson for patient manual handling and transport throughout the hospital campus, and to assist in code response. The above Advertised positions are fulltime permanent positions.**DUTIES**:
Under limited direction of the Operations Manager Patient Support Services, you will provide first line support to all Wardspersons staff working within a variety of clinical areas across the Canberra Hospital campus.

As Wardspersons Supervisors you will support the Wardspersons Operations Manager, ensuring roster lines are staffed when unexpected leave impacts on the ability to meet service requirements and ensure any changes in staff worked or non-worked hours are correctly recorded (manually and/or electronically) for timesheet and payroll purposes.

Wardspersons Supervisors will assist with the production of operational policies and procedures, reviewing RiskMan clinical and staff incident reports and assist with recruitment

You will:

- Supervise all aspects of Wardspersons daily work activities and practices in all clinical areas.
- Assist in providing the first line response to emergency codes e.g. blue, black and ensure all information is appropriately recorded
- Assist with backfilling shift by shift unexpected leave, ensuring replacement staff are accurately recorded for timesheet purposes and are required to meet operational needs. If overtime is required for backfill, approval must be obtained from the Wardspersons Operations Manager during hours or the on-call Ward Services Manager during the afterhours period.
- Provide assistance to the Wardsperson Operations Manager as required by:

- Assisting with the ongoing mandatory staff education and training- Reviewing changes in operational procedures- Participating in recruitment interview panels as required- Participating in staff performance management processes as required- Providing information for the investigation of clinical and staff accident/incident reports- Providing information for responses to complaints that may be received about staff and/or service performance- Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the section with the delivery of high-quality person and family centred, safe and high-quality patient care.

**Position Requirements/Qualifications**:
**Desirable**:

- Understanding of Infection Prevention and Control Processes within a healthcare facility- Knowledge of Wardsperson duties and understanding of the Patient Support Services commitment to client services and outcomes.- Ability to work Monday to Friday or shift work at 76 hours a fortnight as required within all areas of the Hospital.- Hold a current driver’s licenceThe successful applicant may need to be available for weekend and after-hours work.

Have an understanding of how the National Standards and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.

Fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.

- Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening, and vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.
