Close Encounter Dredging has been operating on the Gold Coast Waterways since 2012. We carry out canal maintenance from Southport to Paradise Point.

Our Dredge is fully setup to provide services to all areas of sand dredging including:

- Deepening boat moorings under and around pontoons
- Deepening boat moorings under and around jetties
- Restoring and maintaining sandy beaches on waterfront land

We are seeking a Dredge Operator and a Dredge Deckhand that is available Monday to Friday, during daylight hours only. Most weeks you will be rostered Monday to Thursday 0700 hrs to 1700 hrs with a 30 minute paid meal break with a total of 38 working hours per week (weather dependant). You will be paid weekly.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Setup of cyclone and pipe equipment (heavy lifting required)
- Monitor sediment output from cyclone
- Communicate with Dredge crew to ensure maximum dredging capacity is maintained throughout the daily operations
- Operate, maintain and repair all engines and ancillary machinery aboard the dredge and tender vessel associated with the dredging operation in line with your capabilities
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures
- Record daily activity including pre-start, operational location, environmental monitoring and maintenance activities
- Ensure public safety is maintained at all times
- Other tasks as directed

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

- First Aid Certificate
- Commercial Boat Licence ie Exemption 38, Coxswains or Master (For Dredge Operator)
- Ability to operate tender vessel (For Dredge Deckhand)
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test

**Experience**:
1 year previous experience in a similar role/industry desirable

We are looking for staff who display a "can do" attitude and who can demonstrate a proven track record in a similar role.
