The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) provides care for more than 400,000 people living in the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide and boasts newly redeveloped wards and Emergency and Outpatient Departments, with plans for the addition of more brand-new facilities in the near future. NALHN provides a full range of high-quality medical, surgical, maternity, diagnostic, emergency and support services. NALHN offers a range of primary health care services across the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide, with a focus on providing preventive and health promoting programs in the community, and transition and hospital substitution and avoidance programs targeted at chronic disease and frail aged. Our 400-plus Allied Health professionals play an integral role in multidisciplinary teams delivering exceptional care to patients across our acute, subacute and hospital avoidance services.

The Orthotist and Prosthetist is accountable to the Senior Manager Northern Adelaide Rehabilitation Service (NARS) for the provision of inpatient and outpatient services which aim to optimise health outcomes. In this role you will rotate through a series of clinical services including a significant and growing outpatient interim amputation rehabilitation service, outpatient orthotic services and collaborative work with Podiatry and other high risk foot services. Clinical supervision will be ensured to support successful applicants to confidently manage a diverse and interesting prosthetic and orthotic case load within this evolving and growing O&P department.

The Orthotist and Prosthetist works collaboratively with a supportive multi-disciplinary team and liaises directly with medical, nursing staff of NALHN and with other community agencies.

The Orthotist and Prosthetist at **AHP1** classification works under direct clinical supervision and may provide direction and support to allied health assistants and students. At this level you will seek guidance and supervision from experienced staff when more complex problem solving, professional decision making and practice skills are required.

The Orthotist and Prosthetist at **AHP2** classification works under limited direct supervision clinical supervision and may provide direction and support to less experience therapists, allied health assistants and students. At this level you will manage, with reduced supervision, non-routine clinical situations when more complex problem solving, professional decision making and practice skills are required.

The Senior Orthotist and Prosthetist at **AHP3 **classification is an experienced senior clinician who applies significant clinical and leadership expertise to the delivery, development and continuous improvement of quality prosthetic/orthotic services across NALHN. As a clinical leader, mentor and clinical supervisor the Senior Orthotist and Prosthetist provides clinical support, education and profession-specific supervision to AHP1, AHP2, TGO1 staff and co-ordinating National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO) student clinical placements.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

- Providing assessment and best prosthetic/orthotic intervention; formulate treatment objectives and treatment plans for clients with varying pathologies.
- Assisting and advising in pre-surgical planning and in post-operative management requiring prosthetic/orthotic services.
- Providing direct service provision in a variety of settings (including inpatient, outpatient, external clinics), as appropriate.
- Recording and reporting relevant information in medical records.
- Evaluating and reviewing orthoses and prostheses in relation to the treatment goals.
- Keeping abreast of new developments in prosthetics/orthotics; Displaying sound knowledge of common and advanced componentry available and their source of supply.
- Ensuring updates to policies and procedures that reflect current standards of practice.
- Adhering to all department policies and procedures.

To be eligible for this position you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification of Orthotists and Prosthetists.
