We have fantastic apprenticeship opportunities in our Civil Construction and Open Space & Environment teams.

**Horticulture Apprentice**
- **4 year apprenticeship**:

- **Based at Foster**

As an apprentice you will get to experience and work across all facets of Parks and Gardens, helping to achieve the overall objectives of the Open Space & Environment team.

Key responsibilities include:

- Maintenance and trimming for vegetation from flowers in beds to trees in parks
- Maintenance of lawns and reserves
- Planning and planting of floral displays within our communities
- Ensuring the facilities within our parks and playgrounds are kept at a high standard
- Assisting with maintenance of plant and equipment (under supervision)

**Civil Construction (Concreter) Apprentice**
- **3 year apprenticeship**:

- **Based at Leongatha**

This apprentice role will see you contribute and assist across all areas of construction and maintenance of roads, storm water drainage, culverts, footpaths, kerb & channel and coastal infrastructures across the Shire.

Key responsibilities include:

- Assist and carry out construction and maintenance works in a safe manner
- Read and interpret plans and specifications
- Handle concreting materials
- Place concrete and screed concrete surfaces
- Manual handling
- On occasions work with other teams (Construction, Maintenance, Sealed roads, Rapid response)

**ABOUT YOU**:
To stand out from the rest you ideally will have:

- Completed your VCE or VCAL
- Not completed any other education of a Certificate III or higher in any discipline
- Driver's licence or very close to achieving this
- Ability to attend the training requirements which may involve travelling to towns outside of where you reside or work
- Ability to respond to after hours emergencies where required (and have the ability to)
- Understanding of mobile phones and tablets
- Understanding of the industry and some relevant work experience
- Tickets in the operation of some plant and equipment
