What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Finance Officer in the Accounts & Client Services team (ACS).
ACS is part of the Shared Services section of CFO Command. Shared Services is responsible for proactively delivering shared services activities to the broader AFP.
The purpose of this role is to provide and monitor debt management, treasury functions and accounts receivable activities, ensuring customer outcomes are met and in compliance with relevant AFP and Australian Government policies, practices and statutory requirements.
Shared Services is a multi-faceted branch that sits within the CFO Command and directly contributes to AFP operational outcomes, providing support and enabling our people to deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. Our objectives are to:
Support our frontline by delivering high-quality corporate and shared services to the AFP
Manage and implement business and system improvements to remove barriers, speed up decision making and increase efficiency
Engage with and work closely with partners
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
This role is responsible for assisting the Team Leader with the day to day management of the Accounts & Client Services team workload.
**Duties performed in the Finance Officer role may include**:
Communication with internal and external stakeholders in the effective delivery of accounting services including Accounts Payable, Treasury, Accounts Receivable and Debt Management;
Ensure outputs are achieved within the strategic direction of the AFP;
Ensure compliance with internal and external governance documents;
Undertake month and year end close processes, reporting and reconciliations to ensure completeness, accuracy and integrity of financial statements;
Contribute to the review of procedures and policies to ensure services are aligned to deliver as per KPIs and management expectations;
Foster an environment of best practice and continuous improvement;
Mentor and provide training to staff.
Essential Requirements
NV1 Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one)
Demonstrated SAP experience
Demonstrated practical experience in accounting, particularly cash accounting, reconciliations and journals
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Willingness to learn and adapt to changing systems and processes
The ability to work and contribute effectively in a team
Well-developed organisational skills, and demonstrated capability to manage competing priorities
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Prior experience within Federal/State/Local Government will be viewed favourably
Relevant qualifications in Accounting
Demonstrated knowledge of the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework
