**About the role**

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective and sustainable management of Council’s open and outdoor spaces including community parks, reserve assets, streetscapes and recreational spaces. Carrying out a number of allocated tasks and activities to maintain and control Council’s tree assets.

**Work type**:Temporary, full time (6 months)
**Classification**:Band 3 ($64 827.00 - $68,852.00 pa plus super)

Key responsibilities include:

- Undertake tree maintenance works in accordance with current industry best practice and standards.
- Assess the condition of Council’s trees to identify structural defects or health issues.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment including trucks, chippers, elevated work platforms and general arboricultural equipment in an effective manner, in compliance with Council standards, appropriate laws, OH&S regulations and Australian Standards.
- Identify and perform minor maintenance on plant such as chainsaw sharpening, cleaning air filters, making new chains, changing blades on woodchipper etc.
- Complete administrative tasks associated with arboricultural duties.

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have working knowledge of arboricultural practices with practical experience in tree maintenance and tree removals.
- Certificate III in Arboriculture, or willing to undertake Certificate III in Arboriculture.
- Demonstrated ability to interact courteously and professionally with ratepayers, stakeholders and community members.
- Knowledge of Energy Safe Line Clearing Regulations and line clearing procedures.
- Ability to assess the health and structure of trees.
