**Category Development Lead - 18 Months Fixed Term Contract
**About the Role
We seek to give our customers a great shopping experience both in-store and online, making sure they can always ‘get their Woolies worth’ as they shop for the freshest foods, a curated range of products that makes sense to their community along with healthier and sustainable options.

The Category Development Team is responsible for partnering with Category Managers to deliver a differentiated & tailored product offer for our customers, leveraging our data and insights to inform our supermarket's strategy and product-ranging decisions.

Your main responsibility is the delivery of customer-focused category plans and range reviews for our Category Managers, driving continuous improvement whilst managing the development of a number of Category Development Analysts. Your team provides analytical support including developing business improvement opportunities and generating proactive & actionable insights.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Identify key strategic priorities for categories in category plans and range reviews using quantitative and qualitative research
- Partner with Category Managers and Merchandise Managers to provide recommendations on strategy and ranging
- Driving change with cross-functional squads on strategic growth areas to land a customer-first outcome
- Use analytical tools to drive insights; including the category and customer segmentation, clustering, commercial investment calculations
- Coach and develop junior members of the team
- Demonstrating continuous improvement and evolving category development process in line with the company’s strategic objectives

**About You**

With a strong understanding of retail through experience within a **Retailer, Supplier, or as a Consultant **with one of the leading Consultancy firms, you will bring to the role a track record in demonstrating stakeholder management and influencing skills, alongside strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualities, skills, and experience:

- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Be able to interpret data and make recommendations and derive actionable insights for short and long-term strategies
- An obsession for customers with a passion to solve problems in ways our customers will love
- Understanding of business implications of range & space strategy recommendations, including commercial & operational impacts
- A track record in demonstrating stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills; comfortable presenting
- Advanced Excel functions e.g. pivot tables, formulas, and conditional formatting
- Experience using agency tools for analysis e.g. Quantium, Nielsen, Mintel
- Demonstrated experience working to tight deadlines on delivering projects
- Experience in managing and developing others is desirable
