**About this opportunity**:
As the Resilience Planning Officer you will raise the resilience of 15 small communities across the municipalities of Murrindindi, Mansfield and Strathbogie Shires:

- through helping them identify and analyse their local risks associated with emergencies
- by developing a LEAP (Local Emergency Action Plan)
- providing support to deliver actions that aim to increase the community’s ability to mitigate, avoid, withstand and/or recover from the increasing effects of bushfire, storm or flood.

**What you will bring**:
You will be valued for your knowledge and expertise in engaging directly with a broad range of communities, your skills in emergency management, community development and community engagement.
- Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines concurrently.
- Strong people skills including knowledge and awareness of trauma informed relationship building, ability to initiate and respond effectively to change and an ability to work as part of a team and to develop networks bring communities together to respond to their local needs particularly in the area of emergency action plans.
- Analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant practical experience in emergency management or community development.

We are located within close proximity to Melbourne, a lovely 60 to 90 minute drive from Melbourne, depending on your route. **Important Information about this role**:
This role is being offered as full time position until 31 March 2025 in accordance with external government funding and will be employed through Murrindindi Shire Council. The successful applicant will be required to have a presence at the Mansfield, Murrindindi and Strathbogie Shire Council offices with the option of hybrid arrangements such as working remotely from home as agreed.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Murrindindi Shire Council’s Enterprise Agreement. This role will require applicants to have:

- a Police Check and where applicable to the role, a Working with Children Check
- the ability to travel to different work sites within the region such as a current Victorian Driver’s licence.
