**About the Role**
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will play a key role in a collaborative project between the Equine Orthopaedic Research Group and the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne. Focused on mathematical modelling of equine bone injury, the position involves independent research planning and execution, mathematical modelling, and data analysis. The ultimate goal is to improve safety and welfare outcomes in collaboration with the horse racing industry.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Plan and execute research independently under general guidance from senior academic researchers.
- Develop effective timelines and milestones aligned with the program's goals.
- Perform mathematical modelling and statistical analysis of research data, contributing to valuable insights in the field of equine bone injury.
- Participate in the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and actively contribute to research dissemination through seminars, conferences, and publications.
- Contribute to the overall development of the Department’s and the School’s research program and play a role in research training, scientific mentoring, and supervision of student research projects.

**Who We Are Looking For**

You will also have:

- A PhD (or near completion of a PhD) in mathematical modelling, mathematical biology, applied mathematics or a related discipline.
- Strong quantitative skills and experience in mathematical modelling of biological processes with ODEs, simulations and/or analysis in R/Matlab.
- A record of quality research as evidenced by publications in leading journals and at conferences commensurate with opportunity.
