**The opportunity**
ASIO is seeking technical specialists at the ITE1/2 (APS 5/6 equivalent) and SITEC (EL1 equivalent) to provide technical expertise in the development and integration of wireless access and collection capabilities in support of ASIO's warranted computer access requirements. In this role you will work closely with internal stakeholders and industry partners to provide integrated technical solutions to resolve some of our most complex collection tasks. Pending attainment (optional) of operational qualifications, you will deploy these capabilities as part of a larger operational team of highly professional specialists to directly support ASIO's mission.
A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.
This role may attract an additional technical skills allowance of up to 10% of base salary.
**Role responsibilities**
As a wireless access and collection specialist in ASIO, you will:
- Maintain awareness of developments in wireless technologies and advise on future threats and opportunities to access and collection capabilities.
- Collaborate with industry partners to develop technical solutions and integrate these into our wireless access and collection capabilities.
- Conduct capability testing and work with other internal stakeholders to coordinate end-to-end operational testing of system components.
- Pending attainment of operational qualifications, oversee the in-field deployment of wireless access and collection capabilities during ASIO operational activities. This may require periodic interstate travel and outside standard working hours activity.
In addition to the above, at the SITEC (EL1) level you will:
- Lead the technical development and/or deployment of wireless access and collection capabilities.
- Provide technical and/or operational mentoring to junior staff.

- Demonstrated experience working with wireless communications technologies (preferably cellular).
- Experience in system integration.
- Ability to code in one or more languages.
- Ability to build upon and sustain relationships with a network of key industry and Australian government partners.
- Interest in vulnerability research and exploit development.
- A resilience to technical setbacks and passion to persevere in the pursuit of knowledge and a solution.
In addition to the above, at the SITEC (EL1) level you will have demonstrated experience in the integration of wireless access and/or collection systems.

**Eligibility**
To be eligible for the role, you must be:
- An Australian citizen.
- Have demonstrated experience in wireless access and/or collection roles relative to the level applied for.
- Assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a TOP SECRET-Privileged Access security clearance.
