**About the team**:
The Australian Radioactive Waste Agency (ARWA), a newly established Commonwealth Agency has a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of Australia’s expertise in radioactive waste management with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working together to deliver on the Government’s commitment for the safe and secure management of the nation’s radioactive waste material.

The Corporate Governance and Compliance Officer will work supporting a collaborative team to achieve complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce. You will provide detailed administration, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.

**Essential**:

- Demonstrate the ability to coordinate, manage and report on governance, compliance and assurance activities.
- Highly developed verbal, written and computer communication skills to logically convey thoughts and new ideas.
- Demonstrate capability to influence key stakeholders in order to achieve effective strategic outcomes.
- Strong skill sets in analysing, synthesising and presenting business data.
- Experience in business environments, preferably with human resources, finance, governance or information management knowledge.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity within a politically sensitive environment.
- Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.

**What you will do**:

- Support the implementation of Project Plans for Governance and Compliance ensuring critical timelines and accountabilities are achieved, including Gateway review.
- Monitor and review of agency policies, procedures, frameworks and control systems.
- Support the preparation of annual reports, corporate plan, fraud, risk management and business continuity plans in accordance with PGPA Act and supporting legislation, policies and frameworks.
- Maintain and coordinate delivery against a comprehensive register of governance, assurance and other reporting requirements.
- Work collaboratively across ARWA’s corporate and technical teams to deliver governance and compliance activities achieving a holistic approach to enabling services for the Agency including Freedom of Information, Public Interest Disclosure and Fraud

**Eligibility**:
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must:

- Be an Australian citizen or going to be granted Australian Citizenship before commencement. You may be asked to provide evidence of this.
- Undertake a pre-employment security assessment and subsequent security clearance. All staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance however some roles will require a higher level security clearance. If you are offered a role and do not have a current security clearance, we will work with you to arrange for this to be undertaken.
- Be medically fit to undertake the duties of the job.

**Security Clearance**:
This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
