Join the team of Barton’s newest restaurant, led by renowned hatted chef Ben Willis. With over 30 years’ experience, Ben is Canberra’s most awarded chef, winning numerous accolades. Teaming up with DOMA Hotels to create a new restaurant within the Realm Precinct, Ben is set to deliver another unique and memorable dining experience in the Canberra food scene.

We are looking for an exceptional Sommelier with a fierce knowledge of all this wine to join Canberra’s newest restaurant team and deliver the very best in service to our guests.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive wine list that complements the restaurant’s menu and exceeds the expectation of the customers
- Continually updates the wine list to maximize profitability and introduce new wines to customers
- Provides recommendations and explains pairings to guest in a friendly and engaging manner
- Communicates effectively with the kitchen staff
- Manages and Maintains the wine collection by purchasing and storing bottles, tracking inventory and keeping records of sales and profile
- Conducting staff training session to educate the team about wine and improve their knowledge
- Collaborates with colleagues to ensure customers have an exceptional dining experience

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 2-3 years experience as a sommelier or in a fine dining restaurant setting
- A deep understanding of wine regions, grape varieties and comprehensive palette knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with customers and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills
- Positive and energetic attitude with a willingness to continually learn

**Salary**: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
