**About the Role**

We are seeking carers to join our team working with two young children, who both have cerebral palsy. They are two loving and joyful children who are growing up and exploring the world with the support of their family and a team of at-home carers. They attend kinder and primary school and love swimming, music and horse riding. The children are non-verbal, use wheelchairs and walkers to get around, and use a variety of medical equipment to help them live well.

We are looking for carers with experience looking after young children who are kind, caring, have a positive attitude, energetic, reliable, proactive and work well as a team.

The role involves:

- Personal care (e.g. feeding, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming).
- Play (e.g. floor based, arts/ craft, fine motor, technology switch games)
- Basic household tasks (e.g. washing, meal prep and tidying)
- Community access (e.g. kinder/ school transport, playground, outings to the zoo, the beach, swimming pool).
- Mobility (e.g. transfers on/off floor, in/out wheelchairs, prams, chairs, car, toilet, bath, standing frames and supported walking short distances)
- Medical care (training can be provided) of PEG tube feeding, giving medications, oxygen and BiPAP ventilation/ oximeter monitor at night.
- Supporting non-verbal communication (training can be provided in AAC) using PODD book communication, aided language displays, key word sign, switches, speech generating devices.
- Administration tasks (e.g. documenting activities, medication)

We are looking for staff who are available afternoon/ evenings, weekends and increased hours during school holidays. There is also a Saturday active overnight shift available. Additionally, there are extra shifts to cover sick leave or planned holiday leave.

**Available hours**:
Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays 2:00pm
- 9:30pm

Fridays 7:00pm
- 10pm (3 hrs)

Saturdays 12:30pm
- 7:00pm (6.5 hrs) with option to extend 7:00pm
- 10:30pm (3.5 hrs)

Sundays 6:30am
- 9:30am (3 hrs) and 12:30pm
- 7:00pm (6.5 hrs)

Saturday overnight (awake shift) 10:30pm
- 8:30am (10 hrs)

School holidays 9:00am
- 3:00pm (6 hrs) in addition to regular shifts

**Requirements**:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
- Driver’s License and own car
- Strong English communication skills
- Experience working with young children with special needs
- Non
- smoking household

**Desirable (training can be provided)**:

- Experience with medical care e.g. PEG feeding, oxygen, BiPAP
- Experience incorporating allied health strategies (physio, OT, speech)
