The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. The Salvation Army's Youthlink Skills 4 Life is a specialist youth disability service and registered NDIS provider located in Blacktown.
Skills 4 Life provides client-centered quality services to young people with a disability (aged 8-30) and their families in the Western Sydney area. The Skills 4 Life team offers a range of allied health services and therapeutic life skill programs including day programs, school holiday programs and after school programs.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Skills4Life Support Worker to provide person centred support services that empower young people with disability to achieve their potential and live the life they choose.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, this is a Casual position based in Blacktown, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 2.
You will successfully- Provide direct care assistance to each client in accordance with their service plan and as directed by the program coordinator.- Ensure programs are ran smoothly and efficiently with diligent attention to safety and duty of care.- Participate in physical activities outdoors.- Assist young people to reflect on activities and help them develop important life skills.- Train and support other staff when required to effectively deliver programs.- Manage and facilitate Administration and clerical functions
You will have- Certificate III or IV in Disability.- A valid NSW Working With Children Check.- Valid NSW Driver’s License.- Current First Aid Certificate.- Experience working with young people.- A genuine desire to provide the best quality support for people with disabilities.- A reliable character.- The willingness to participate in activities in the outdoors with young people.- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work and communicate effectively with clients, their families, community agencies and other professionals.- The ability to work in a very busy environment and to work both independently and as a part of a team.- An understanding of privacy and confidentiality issues.
