An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team on a permanent part-time basis (negotiable days/hours).
Your excellent time management and organisational skills, along with considerable clinical coding experience will ensure your success in this position.
**As a Clinical Coder your responsibilities will include**:
- Timely and accurate clinical coding
- Participate in case mix analysis, education & quality activities
- Clinical documentation improvement initiatives
- Participate in audits as necessary
- Provide support, guidance and mentoring to trainee coders alongside our Coding Educator and senior coders
Newcastle Private Hospital is a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit. It also has a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

**Essential Criteria**:
- HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding with experience in ICD-10-AM, ACHI & ACS
- At least 3 years+ Clinical Coding experience in a hospital setting with varied casemix
- Sound understanding of Codefinder & Turbocoder
- Strong organisational skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work within a team environment
**Desirable Criteria**:
- Sound Knowledge of private sector funding models
- Demonstrated understanding in WebPAS patient information system.
- Enjoys coffee and cake with colleagues.
