WHAT YOU WILL LEAD AND BUILD
- This Head of Business Development role contributes to the global healthcare strategy, through building a sustainable, diverse and differentiated portfolio and pipeline through on-market/late stage branded dispensary and OTC assets.
- Revenue and cash flow targets will be achieved through in/out licensing of pharmaceutical products, product acquisition & divestment and product launch gap fill from 3rd party sources. This role will own and manage existing and future partnerships by leveraging powerful operating platforms and commercial capabilities.
- The position will assess markets and opportunities and determine the feasibility of strategic transactions.
- You will analyse records of operations, trends, costs, estimated revenues, administrative commitments and obligations incurred to project future revenues, expenditures and net income.
- You will lead a small team and direct sales and business development activities with the aim of achieving business objectives including increasing overall profitability.
- You will direct and advise on post deal execution activities including the alignment of internal and external stakeholders to partnership objectives and key deal terms and milestones and be the key interface for executive management who manage post deal alignment on terms and conditions.
- You will monitor contractual obligations and compliance and leads efforts to resolve resulting issues and initiate, manage and negotiate new contracts, renewals, amendments and terminations inclusive of all partnerships including licensing, development and other commercial agreements.
- You will provide managerial coaching and mentor direct reports ensuring clarity in role responsibilities to drive optimal performance.
- You will develop, maintain and establish operational specifications for BD financial information and reporting systems and manage the P&L for this business unit.
WHAT EXPERIENCE WILL YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB?
- University qualifications in pharmacy, science and/or business, preferably with post-graduate studies or experience deemed equivalent to a degree would suffice, eg. extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical products and therapeutic areas gained from experience; experience setting plans and strategies, delivering on budgets and targets.
- 10+ years within the Australian pharmaceutical industry, with extensive knowledge of its challenges and opportunities, with 5+ years in the area of business development or related field, with experience working in pharmaceutical sales roles, with a passion for driving sales and customer service excellence.
- Leadership experience, minimum 3 years, with the ability to inspire, motivate and lead, including experience with; budgeting, strategic and tactical planning, performance management and coaching.
- Ability to manage a budget, with strong commercial and financial acumen.
