**Description**:
The Horticulturist is responsible for the completion of work tasks within the
**Australian Botanic Gardens Mount Annan 362 Narellan Rd, Mount Annan**. This involves completing a range of technical tasks associated with a Nursery propagation and maintenance of potted plant collections.

**Day to day duties include**:

- Working autonomously to conduct duties to a Horticulturist Nursery trade level
- Working with Labourer, Horticultural apprentices to co-ordinate work tasks to safe working standards and deliver tasks to agreed deadlines
- Prioritising and conducting work tasks in various living collections onsite
- Diagnose plant health and pathogen issues and treat accordingly using Integrated pest management techniques
- Use of small tools and equipment including hand blowers, backpack blowers, pruning saw, secateurs etc
- Effectively communicating updates on plant health and issues to Senior Hort/Supervisor
- Maintenance of potted plant collection including; Weeding, fertilising, pruning, potting up, potting on
- Propagation of native seed and cuttings
- Hand watering and setting up of sprinklers and irrigation systems
- Assisting ad hoc with duties relevant to the portfolio
- ChemCert desirable
