**About the role**:
The Procurement team at Merri-bek City Council are transforming as we embark on a journey to become a customer-centric, high performing team, focussed on delivering exceptional value for our organisation. We have a refreshed strategy in place after a recent change in the organisational structure. We are seeking enthusiastic, driven, and innovative people to help us turn our goals into actions.
The Procurement Officer role is an integral part of our current model. This position would report into the Unit Manager Procurement, supporting the execution of our strategic plan. The focus will be to provide administrative support and advice in Council’s procurement, tendering, and contract management activities. The role ensures Council adheres to procurement policy and procedures.

**Skills and experience require to perform the role**:

- Tertiary qualification in procurement, commerce, accounting or related field, coupled with some practical experience or; significant relevant experience in procurement, tendering and contracting activities
- Ability to provide accurate and informed routine advice on procurement, tendering and contract management
- Proven knowledge of computer systems for tenders and contract management
- Advanced capabilities in MS Word, MS Excel
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritise work to ensure timeframes and work standards are met efficiently, on time and with the resources available
- Demonstrated well developed interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to liaise, consult, provide advice and negotiate along with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including suppliers
- Analytical mindset and problem solving, solution focused skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
